MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny College head men's and women's golf coach Carter Hassenplug '25 is pleased to announce the addition of professional golfer Aaron Beverly as the Gators' new assistant coach.

Shortly after graduating from California State University, Sacramento in 2017, Beverly turned pro and has played professionally on the PGA Tour Americas, PGA Tour Canada, the Advocates Professional Golf Association (APGA) Tour, and other mini-tours. Two of his four pro tournament victories have been with the APGA, including the Farmers Insurance Fall Series Finale in 2021 and the APGA at TPC Scottsdale in 2024.

One of the highlights of his pro career came in February 2022, when Beverly received the Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption into The Genesis Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods. Since 2009, the exemption, which honors the first African-American golfer to play on the PGA Tour, has been given to a deserving golfer from a minority background. Furthermore, Beverly joined Woods at the podium and was interviewed at the press conference on the eve of the tournament.

Originally from Fairfield, California, Beverly was a four-year letter winner and one of the most decorated golfers in Sacramento State history. A three-time All-Big Sky Conference selection, he was crowned the Big Sky Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons in 2015-16 and 2016-17. His 10 Big Sky Men's Golfer of the Week awards are tied for the most in conference history. Beverly – who led Sac State to a conference championship as the individual medalist in 2017 – set a then-program record with an average of 71.31 as a senior, breaking his own record of 71.83 from the year prior. He also owns the Sacramento State record for most career top-five finishes and ranks fifth in career stroke average (73.14).

During the 2019-20 season, Beverly returned to his alma mater to serve as an assistant men's golf coach. He spent parts of four seasons coaching the Hornets, helping them win another Big Sky title in 2021 with a 19-stroke victory. Beverly boasts additional experience in golf operations from his time as a caddie and golf shop attendant at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California, and as the assistant golf pro at Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove, California. He also caddied on the PGA Tour for Sahith Theegala during the 2020 season.

Beverly, a four-time academic all-conference honoree, graduated from Sacramento State in June 2017 with a bachelor's in psychology and minors in English and coaching.
