NFF Release
IRVING, Texas -- The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced that Allegheny College senior linebacker
Fletcher Hammond (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) is one of 179 semifinalists for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy.
Hammond is one of only 33 student-athletes from Division III included among this year's semifinalists for the Campbell Trophy, college football's premier scholar-athlete award. Celebrating its 36th year, the Campbell Trophy recognizes an individual as the nation's absolute best football scholar-athlete for his combined academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership.
The NFF will announce 12-16 finalists on October 22, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. The finalists will travel to the Bellagio Resort and Casino in Las Vegas for the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on December 9, where the winner of the Campbell Trophy will be declared. The postgraduate scholarship for the winning student-athlete will be increased to $25,000.
To be eligible for the Campbell Trophy, a student-athlete must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of playing eligibility, have a minimum GPA of 3.20, have outstanding football ability as a first-team player or significant contributor, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
Despite battling through injuries, Hammond has made his impact felt on the defensive side of the ball for the Gators. In 24 career appearances, he's made 76 total tackles with six tackles for a loss, one sack, and one forced fumble. In the classroom, Hammond is a double major in neuroscience and psychology, with a minor in biology. He was selected to the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Fall Academic Honor Roll and has completed numerous research experiences on and off campus, including an internship at the University at Buffalo over the summer.
