TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Allegheny College women's swimming and diving was well represented on the All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Teams with five selections for the 2024-25 season.
Four of Allegheny's five honorees were included on the All-PAC Second Team: Senior
Katya Pryshchenko (Berwyn, Pa./Aim Academy), juniors
Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) and
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth), and first-year
Emily Arendas (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin). Fellow first-year
Kerrigan Swartz (Brookville, Pa./Brookville Area) was named an All-PAC Honorable Mention.
A repeat All-PAC Second Teamer, Pryshchenko qualified for the "A" final in the 100-yard freestyle, placing eighth overall with a time of 57.02 seconds. She won the "B" final with a ninth-place performance in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:04.29. Pryshchenko also led off the 200- and 400-yard freestyle and medley relays, guiding the Gators to a silver medal in the 200 medley and a bronze in the 400 medley.
A defending champion in the breaststroke, Reiter added two more bronze medals to her collection this winter. She was third in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke races with times of 1:09.04 and 2:32.63. Reiter was also second in the water for the runner-up 200-yard medley relay team and the third-place 400-yard medley quartet.
Kohler received All-PAC Second Team accolades for the second year in a row. Her best individual performances came in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly races. Kohler recorded a season-best time of 1:03.26 en route to a seventh-place finish in the former and won the "B" final in ninth place in the latter. She completed the third leg of Allegheny's medal-winning medley relay teams. Kohler earned an additional award after being selected to the PAC Sportsmanship Team. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior, and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams and student-athletes.
The last member of Allegheny's second-place 200 medley relay team was Arendas. The first-year swimmer also helped the Gators finish fourth overall in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Individually, Arendas had personal-best times in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke competitions. She came in ninth place in the 100-yard race with a time of 1:13.26.
Swartz joined Reiter in both breaststroke "A" finals. She placed seventh in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. Her times in the prelims were all personal bests, as Swartz was clocked at 1:12.53 in the shorter race and 2:38.46 in the longer one. She also helped Allegheny earn its bronze in the 400-yard medley relay alongside Pryshchenko, Reiter, and Kohler.
