TRAFFORD, Pa. – Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock) and
Cherrieke Bufis (Rochester, N.Y./Vertus Charter) of the Allegheny Track & Field earned Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) weekly accolades for their performances at the IUP Ed Fry Invitational last weekend.
Moon was named the Field Athlete of the Week after winning the long jump at the meet. His winning distance of 7.23 meters broke his own program record in the event, and is currently the second best mark in Division III this season. Moon also placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.12 meters. This marks his first outdoor weekly honor of the season after earning it four times during the indoor season.
Bufis was named the Newcomer of the Week. In the triple jump, Bufis leaped a distance of 12.22 meters, finishing fourth. That distance is the top mark in the conference this season. He also jumped 5.87 meters in the long jump, fifth best in the conference.
The Gators are back in action this weekend (March 28-29) at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
