PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For the third consecutive year, the Allegheny College men's tennis team was voted No. 1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The two-time defending PAC champions are looking to three-peat, and the coaches around the conference predict the Gators will finish atop the nine-team league again in 2025. Allegheny received a maximum of eight first-place votes and 64 total points, followed by Grove City College with 54 points and Saint Vincent College with 52. The Bearcats received the remaining first-place vote.
The Gators not only enter 2025 with the last two PAC championship trophies, but the Allegheny men's tennis team has not lost a conference match since rejoining the PAC ahead of the 2022-23 season. Allegheny is 16-0 against conference opponents in regular-season matches in that span, which includes 13 shutout victories.Â
Allegheny placed five on the PAC's Players to Watch list, headlined by the conference's two-time Player of the Year,
Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet). One of the brightest players in program history, Hedlund was named to the All-PAC First Team for singles and doubles in each of the past two seasons. Joining Hedlund on the watch list are junior
David Rodriguez (St. Ann's, Trinidad & Tobago/Fatima College) and newcomers
Javier Bejarano Jimenez (El Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain/IES Padre Luis Coloma),
Kristian Janci (Kysucké Nové Mesto, Slovakia/The British International School Shanghai), and
Levente Mihaly (Békéscsaba, Hungary/Békéscsabai SZC Széchenyi István).Â
The Gators don't open PAC play until Thursday, April 3, against Grove City. However, non-conference action continues on Friday, February 7, against No. 4 nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University.
