GENEVA, Ohio -- Chloe Bonson (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford) highlighted the Allegheny College women's indoor track and field team with a victory in the 3,000-meter race at the 2025 SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games on Saturday.
Bonson's breakthrough junior year shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon, as she earned her fourth first-place performance of the indoor season. After qualifying for the 2024 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in the fall, she logged the fifth-best 3,000-meter time in program history at 10:07.40. Bonson outran several Division I athletes from Duquesne University, Cleveland State, and the University at Buffalo, finishing nearly three seconds ahead of runner-up Ryley Schwalm of Duquesne.
Facing 23 different collegiate programs and one running club, the Gators combined for fifth top-10 finishes and five All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifiers.
In addition to Bonson,
Nelly Stafford (Middletown, Md./Middletown) recorded a PR at 10:27.75 and placed ninth in the 3,000-meter race. Stafford cut more than 17 seconds off of her time from her season debut at the Wooster Invitational on January 18.
In the 800-meter run,
Celia Cocca (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) missed an indoor personal record by 1.09 seconds. Cocca was 10th out of 72 in the event and the third-best Division III runner with a time of 2:20.68.
Second-year pole vaulter
Corinne Inkley (Randolph, N.Y./Randolph Central) tied her indoor PR. Inkley cleared 3.35 meters, a season-best mark, which was three-hundredths of a meter better than her victory from last weekend's Dan Kinsey Invitational. Inkley placed seventh overall in the pole vault but was the third-best D-III athlete in the event.
Senior
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) nearly PR'd with the second-best weight throw of her career. Her second throw reached 13.82 meters, just shy of her 13.88-meter personal record from last year's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Indoor Championships. Miller placed 14th out of 39 in the weight throw and was eighth out of 44 in the shot put at 11.83 meters.
