TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For the second week in a row, Allegheny College's
Mariah Helvy-Bruce (Braddock, Pa./Woodland Hills) was tabbed the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Track and Field Newcomer of the Week.
In addition to her award in February, Helvy-Bruce has now been selected as the top newcomer in the PAC three times.
At the Westminster College Invitational on Saturday, Helvy-Bruce turned in a personal-record performance in the 400-meter hurdles. She placed third overall and first among Division III athletes at 1:07.10, the fastest time in the PAC so far this season. The first-year sprinter also helped Allegheny's 4x400-meter relay team finish in fifth with a time of 4:14.78, which ranks fourth in the conference.
The Allegheny women's track and field team will continue its outdoor campaign at Slippery Rock University's John Papa Invitational on Thursday, April 16.
