LATROBE, Pa. -- Sophomore
Kerrigan Swartz (Brookville, Pa./Brookville Area) led the Allegheny College women's swimming team with a pair of wins during Saturday's 159-83 setback at Saint Vincent College.
Swartz won both of her individual races in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. In the 100-yard race, she beat Saint Vincent's (2-2) Emma Martz by 1.33 seconds with a time of 1:14.12. In the 200-yard competition, Swartz touched the wall in 2:40.59, beating SVC's Deanna Miller by 1.19 seconds.
In addition to the breaststroke victories, Swartz joined
Magnolia Myers (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Our Lady of the Elms),
Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA), and
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) in the Gators' first-place 400-yard medley relay race. She swam the final leg of the relay, closing out a 3.48-second win over Martz, Miller, Adrianna Grimm, and CC Hickin with a time of 4:23.65.Â
Allegheny's other first-place performance came from Kohler in the 100-yard butterfly. The senior outpaced two Bearcats by a wide margin and beat the runner-up by more than eight seconds. Kohler and Swartz also made up half of the relay team that took second in the 400-yard freestyle.
