MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's swimming team defeated Westminster in their 2025-26 home opener Saturday (Nov. 1).
The Gators won the close meet by a score of 134-127. Overall, they took first in eight events.
Kerrigan Swartz (Brookville, Pa./Brookville Area) had a pair of individual victories for the Gators in sprints. She took the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.67 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.85.
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) also claimed first place in a pair of events. Both of her wins came in the butterfly, taking the 100 with a time of 1:04.62 and the 200 with a time of 2:25.69.
The Gators also swept the two breaststroke events.
Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) won the 100 with a time of 1:13.82 while
Grace Melocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) narrowly bested Reiter in the 200 with a time of 2:39.15.
The final two wins came at the start and the end of the event. The event started with the 200 medley relay team of
Magnolia Myers (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Our Lady of the Elms), Reiter, Kohler and Swartz winning with a time of 1:51.77. In the final event of the meet, the 200 freestyle relay team of Swartz,
Emily Arendas (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin), Melocchi and Kohler won with a time of 1:46.85.
