PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- After leading the Allegheny College football team to a 21-11 victory at Waynesburg University in his first collegiate start, freshman quarterback
Nick Barker (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Newcomer of the Week.
Barker, the first true freshman to start at quarterback for Allegheny in a decade, efficiently led the Gator offense without committing any turnovers. He finished the afternoon 15-of-23 (65.2%) for 173 passing yards and a career-high three touchdowns. His longest completion of the game came late in the second quarter on a well-placed 30-yard strike to
Nick Burkey (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) for Allegheny's second score.
Over the past six quarters against Waynesburg and Geneva College, Barker has thrown for 368 yards and four touchdowns.
Allegheny is back on the road this Saturday, October 11, to face Case Western Reserve University at 4:30 p.m. in Cleveland.
