BEREA, Ohio – The Allegheny women's swimming team split a tri-meet on the road Saturday (Oct. 25) against host Baldwin Wallace and Fredonia.
The Gators defeated Fredonia 142-54, but fell to the host Yellowjackets 159-77.
Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) and
Grace Melocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) won individual races. Reiter's victory came in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.3. She also finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:10.6. Melocchi placed first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:45.1 while taking second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:24.4.
Olivia Johnson (Trafford, Pa./Penn-Trafford) had a pair of runner-up finishes in the distance events. She took second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:59.3 as well as the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 12:17.8.
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:04.4 while also taking third in the 200 freestyle.
Emily Arendas (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) was second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:00.8 and third in the 50 freestyle.
Magnolia Myers (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Our Lady of the Elms) was the runner-up in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.0.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Arendas, Kohler, Myers and
Kerrigan Swartz (Brookville, Pa./Brookville Area) also claimed a top finish with a time of 4:02.5. The 200 medley relay squad of Myers, Reiter, Melocchi and Swartz opened the meet with a second place finish, clocking in at 1:58.7.
