HIRAM, Ohio – The Allegheny women's swimming team opened the season with a road win at Hiram Saturday (Oct. 18).
The Gators won the meet by a score of 178-36, taking first in all 14 events The win marked the first under the tutelage of first year head coach
Troy Lubanski.
Kerrigan Swartz (Brookville, Pa./Brookville Area),
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth),
Grace Melocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler),
Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA),
Olivia Johnson (Trafford, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and
Magnolia Myers (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Our Lady of the Elms) all generated two individual wins for the Gators.
Swartz captured both the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 30.26 and 1:05.78. Kohler also won two sprints, taking the 50 and 100 butterflies with times of 33.00 and 11:11.73.
In her first collegiate meet, Melocchi won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:24.56 as well as the 100 individual medley with a time of 1:17.90. Reiter won both of the breaststroke events, taking the 50 with a time of 36.70 and the 100 with a time of 1:21.04.
Johnson won the two distance events of the meet, finishing first in the 400 freestyle at 5:21.68 and the 800 with a time of 11:02.42. Myers rounded out the dual winners with victories in the backstrokes, taking the 50 with a time of 35.18 and the 100 with a time of 1:17.50.
Allegheny also won both relay events. The team of Myers, Reiter, Kohler and Melocchi won the opening 200 medley relay with a time of 2:14.10 while

Genevieve Martin (Londonderry, N.H./Arts Academy of New Hampshire),
Ryann Fishel (Cleveland, Ohio/Beaumont School) and Johnson won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:28.49.
