WOOSTER, Ohio -- In the first indoor meet of 2025, the Allegheny College men's track and field team placed fourth overall at the Wooster Invitational, hosted by the College of Wooster at the Scot Center on Saturday.
In the team standings, the Gators finished with 65 total points. They trailed third-place Kenyon College by only 10 points. Atop the leaderboard, first-place Wittenberg University and Ohio Wesleyan University ran away from the competition with 162.5 and 143.5 points, respectively.
Senior standout
Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock) earned Allegheny's only individual victory in the long jump. He cleared 6.74 meters on his sixth and final attempt, although his other countable mark of 6.68 meters on his third jump would have also produced a first-place finish. Moon recorded an All-Atlantic Region Track and Field (AARTFC) qualifier in the long jump and was the top Gator in the 60-meter dash at 7.21 seconds.
Second-year sprinter
Austin Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) had a busy day on the track. Stewart placed second in the 400-meter dash (52.34 seconds) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.40 seconds). He also ran the third leg of Allegheny's 4x400-meter relay team alongside
Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair),
Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), and
Jordan Anderson (Attica, N.Y./Attica), helping the quartet place fourth out of 10 with a time of 3:40.47 seconds.
Jooste added another top-five performance in the 800-meter race. He placed third overall and third in his heat with a time of 2:05.21 seconds, edging his teammate, Wyse, by a mere two-hundredths of a second to pick up the bronze finish.
Freshmen
Cherrieke Bufis (Rochester, N.Y./Vertus Charter) and
Andre Anderson (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill), teammates on Allegheny's football program, made their track and field debuts at Wooster. Bufis was the runner-up in the triple jump at 12.23 meters. Anderson paced the Gators in the shot put (11.87 meters) and was ninth overall in the weight throw (11.34 meters).
