MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Two student-athletes from the field hockey team and four from the women's lacrosse team represented Allegheny College on the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team.
From the field hockey program,
Emily Robles (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) and
Maya Francisco (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee Valley Country Day School) were both recognized. Women's lacrosse standouts
Emily Herrold (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley),
Ema Caragein (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle),
Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal), and
Sybi Gerhart (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) were also included.
Petrarca and Gerhart were both honored for the second consecutive year.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District Women's At-Large Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and the classroom. The at-large category includes student-athletes from women's beach volleyball, bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, and water polo.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Field hockey and lacrosse athletes must have played in at least 90% or started in 66% of the team's competitions throughout the season.
Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Women's At-Large Academic All-America First-, Second-, and Third-Team honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 16.
