Women's Lacrosse Earns First Win At Keuka, 16-6

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. -- A strong first half on the offensive end of the turf guided the Allegheny College women's lacrosse team to its first win of the season by a 16-6 final score against Keuka College in Keuka Park, New York.

Allegheny (1-2) put the pedal to the metal in the first half, netting 13 of its 16 goals in the first two quarters of action. The Gators opened the non-conference contest with the first four goals, including back-to-back tallies in less than a minute to jump ahead 2-0.

The Wolves (1-1) made things interesting with consecutive woman-up goals after the Gators were tagged with a yellow and green card early in the second quarter. That trimmed the deficit to 6-4, but the Blue and Gold added seven more before halftime, exploding into an 11-4 lead at the break. Goals once again came in quick succession; Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) found the back of the net twice in less than 24 seconds, while Erin Lowthert (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) and Kendall Cox (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) scored twice in the last 30 seconds of the half.

Although the offensive pace slowed in the second half, Allegheny's defense limited the Wolves to only two second-half markers to protect its large lead.
