Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Fredonia at Home

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team hosted Fredonia Wednesday (Feb. 25) in Meadville, falling to the Blue Devils 17-3.
 
After the teams went back-and-forth for the first half of the opening quarter with no score, the Blue Devils finished the frame on a 6-0 run. Their lead reached 7-0 before the Gators got on the board. Amelia Henderson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) set-up Erin Lowthert (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) for the goal in front of the net. Fredonia tallied three more goals before Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) scored unassisted just before the halftime break.
 
Fredonia held the Gators off the board in the third while adding four more goals. The Blue Devils scored three more in the fourth before Smith converted a free-position shot in the finals seconds for her second goal of the game.

  • Smith led the Gators with two goals while also collecting three draw controls and causing a turnover.
  • Lowthert scored the other Allegheny goal and had three draw controls.
  • Henderson had an assist while adding three groundballs and causing two turnovers.
  • Duchess Jackson (Washington, D.C/National Cathedral School) had a team-high five groundballs while causing a pair of turnovers.
  • Ella Ashton (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) and Emma Foley (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) split time in goal. Ashton made nine saves while Foley made four.

  • The Gators are now 11-17 all-time against Fredonia.
