PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Two from the Allegheny College men's lacrosse team earned Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) weekly awards for their efforts in the Gators' regular-season finale against Franciscan University on Saturday.
Following a 23-5 victory over the Barons,
JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) and
Cassady Bouthet (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) were named the PAC's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.
For Rakis, the award is his second of the spring. The second-year attackman set numerous records over the weekend. Not only did he lead all point-getters in the rout of Franciscan, but his 10 points and seven assists established new Allegheny records. Rakis also set a new team record for the most points in a season with 63 heading into the playoffs.
Bouthet collected his first weekly award of the year on the opposite end of the field. The senior defenseman led the way as the Gators shut down a Franciscan offense that ranks second in the PAC in scoring. Bouthet tied a career-high with nine ground balls and set a new program record for caused turnovers with seven. He was also responsible for limiting Joseph James, who is tied for the most points in Division III, to just one goal and one assist.
Rakis, Bouthet, and the rest of the Gators are preparing for their first-ever home playoff games on Wednesday, May 1. Allegheny, the No. 2 seed in the PAC Championship Tournament, will host No. 3 Saint Vincent College at Frank B. Fuhrer Field at 7:00 p.m.
