Madison Hulse (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) of the Allegheny College softball team was crowned the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Newcomer of the Week.
Hulse went 2-0 with a pair of complete-game shutouts against Elms College and Russell Sage College during Allegheny's spring break trip in Florida. She surrendered just two hits and one walk in a 26-0 drubbing of Elms before making history against Russell Sage.
Against Sage, Hulse recorded the fourth perfect game in program history. She struck out a season-high seven batters on just 64 pitches, leading Allegheny to an 8-0 victory. Hulse joins Hall of Famer Laurie Machuga Grile '96 as the only two pitchers in team history to throw a perfect game.
Allegheny's next doubleheader is an exhibition series against Gannon University on Friday, March 15, starting at 3:00 p.m.
