PAC Release
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Four from the Allegheny College women's swimming team were named All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) for the 2023-24 season, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
Two Gators,
Olivia Kraus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and
Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA), earned a spot on the All-PAC First Team after combining to win four individual championships. They were joined by
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) and
Katya Pryshchenko (Berwyn, Pa./Aim Academy), who were named to the All-PAC Second Team.
Kraus was victorious in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races for the second year in a row, giving her four total PAC individual titles over the past two seasons. The senior broke three school records and rewrote two of her own team records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events. Her preliminary time of 51.38 seconds in the 100-free was an NCAA "B" standard and set PAC Championship and James E. Longnecker Competition Pool facility records. In addition to her two wins, Kraus was second in the 100-yard butterfly and swam on all four Allegheny relay teams.
Reiter also won a pair of PAC individual titles. The sophomore recorded personal-best times in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke races and was the gold-medal winner in both. As part of Allegheny's four relay teams, she helped the Gators earn silver medals in the 200- and 400-yard medley relays and bronze in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays.
Kohler and Pryshchenko also swam on the four medal-winning relay teams. Individually, Kohler swam a personal-best time of 26.31 in the 50-yard freestyle finals and a season-best in the 100-yard butterfly finals. Pryshchenko qualified for the "B" finals in the 100-yard backstroke, the 500-yard freestyle, and 1,650-yard freestyle races. Her best result was ninth in the backstroke.
The all-conference swimming and diving teams are determined by a formula-based selection process using student-athletes' individual and relay finishes at the league's annual championships. There were 19 student-athletes who earned First-Team All-PAC accolades, while 18 were named to the All-PAC Second Team, and three were recognized with Honorable Mention status.
Junior
Leah Frase (Madison, Ohio/Madison) was also honored as Allegheny's representative on the PAC Sportsmanship Team. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior, and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams and student-athletes.
