AVCA Release
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Allegheny College's
Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) was named an All-Region 7 Honorable Mention by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) following another standout season in 2024.
Diaz, now a two-time Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Defensive Player of the Year, is the first Gator to earn an all-region award since Traci Stoner and Lindsey Tupman '06 were recognized in the fall of 2004.
The third-year libero from Puerto Rico finished the 2024 campaign with career highs in digs (691) and digs per set (6.01). Among national leaders, Diaz ranks inside the top 10 in Division III in both categories. She also had 86 assists and 50 aces, the second-most on the team. Out of 32 matches, Diaz earned double-digit digs in all but one and reached 30 digs on seven occasions.
This season, Diaz was a two-time PAC Defensive Player of the Week and was a PAC All-Tournament Team selection. Diaz helped Allegheny win its first-ever PAC championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in more than 30 years.
