BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team picked up a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) road win at Geneva Wednesday (Oct. 7) in four sets.
Allegheny won the sets 25-18, 18-25, 25-20, 25-16.
The Gators maintained a small lead in the opening set after winning the first two points. Leading by six, a 4-0 run gave the Gators a set point. The Golden Tornadoes rattled off three points before a service error gave the Gators the set, 25-18.
Once again, the Gators held an early lead in the second set, but Geneva went on a 6-1 run to take an 11-9 lead. Allegheny was unable to overcome that run as they fell 25-18 in the set.
The Gators bounced back with a win in the third set. They took a 5-1 lead early on and were able to maintain that advantage the rest of the way, winning it 25-20.
Once more, the Gators found early success in the fourth set, taking a 10-4 lead. Allegheny ended the match on a
Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) kill as they won in four sets.
Inside the Box
- Marissa Rish (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) led the team with a 13 kill, 18 assist, 11 dig triple-double.
- Skyler Fatola (Queen Creek, Ariz./Eastmark) had a dozen kills.
- Jillian Smetana (Chardon, Ohio/Berkshire) was also in double-digits with 11 kills.
- Pepperman added nine kills with a team-high 14 digs and five aces.
- Joanna Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) had a team-high 23 assists to go with six digs.
- Duru Akbas (Ankara, Turkey/Layton Christian Academy (Utah)) had 13 digs.

- Allegheny is now 16-8 all-time against Geneva.
- Rish recorded her fifth triple-double of the season.
