MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's swimming team opened their season at home in a tri-meet against Hiram and Franciscan Saturday (Oct. 5), defeating both opponents.
 
The Gators defeated Hiram 203-33 and Franciscan 163-92. Overall, Allegheny was victorious in nine events.
 
Katya Pryshchenko (Berwyn, Pa./Aim Academy) claimed three of those victories. She won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:53.71, the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.88 and the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:24.86.
 
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) and Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) won two events apiece.
 
Reiter won the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:01.56 as well as the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.63.
 
Kohler's wins came in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.38 as well as the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:06.42.
 
Paisley Eveland (Corvallis, Ore./Crescent Valley) claimed the final individual victory for the Gators, clocking in at 2:36.52 for the 200 individual medley.
 
Allegheny opened the tri-meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. The team of Eveland, Reiter, Kohler and Pryshchenko won with a time of 2:00.72.
