Full College Sports Communicators Release
MEADVILLE, Pa. – Five members of the Allegheny softball team were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Aleya Belardinelli (Melbourne, Fla./West Shore),
Samantha Dzierba (Colden, N.Y./Orchard Park),
Sofia Genareo (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central),
Sophia Godzak (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) and
Isabelle Wakefield (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) earned the honors.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and have competed in at least 50% of the team's competition throughout the season.
Belardinelli was a First Team All-Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) selection this past season as a pitcher. She finished with a 14-4 record, the most wins for a Gator in a decade. Belardinelli led the conference with 141 strikeouts and was second with a 1.91 ERA.
Dzierba won eight games this season with a 3.29 ERA. She tallied 76 strikeouts for the season in 95.2 innings pitched. Dzierba struck out 10 batters against both Concordia-Moorehead and Mount Mary.
Genareo was a Second Team All-PAC selection as a first baseman. For the year, Genareo hit .382, leading the team with 47 hits. She led the team with 18 doubles while also tallying four home runs and two triples. Her slugging percentage of .659 led the team as well.
Godzak earned First Team All-PAC honors as a designated player. She led the team with .389 batting average. The sophomore tied for the team-lead with 26 runs scored and was second on the team with 44 hits, including 14 doubles and three home runs, and 24 RBI.
Wakefield earned a spot on the PAC Sportsmanship Team. In her junior year, she hit .314. Wakefield had 22 hits with 15 RBI. She crossed the plate nine times and hit her first career home run. In a win over Washington & Jefferson, Wakefield went three-for-three with five RBI.
