MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny softball team celebrated Senior Day Friday (April 24) with a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader against Hiram.
The Gators dropped game one 11-2 and game two 10-3.
In between games, the Gators honored their graduating senior,
Samantha Phillips (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon).
Game One - Hiram 11, Allegheny 2 (6 innings)
The Terriers got out to a quick start, scoring six runs in the top of the first. The Gators answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. Phillips,
Jayla Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth) and
Morgan Kinney (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) hit consecutive singles, with Kinney driving Phillips in.
Lauren Folino (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) then knocked Jones in off a sacrifice fly.
Hiram added to their lead in the third. They loaded the bases with one out, but the Gators allowed just a single run across. They tacked on four more runs in the sixth to take an 11-2 lead.
The Gators were unable to make up the runs in the bottom of the sixth as they fell in the first contest.
Inside the Box
- Phillips had a pair of hits.
- Jones doubled as part of her two hit game.
- Kinney had a RBI single.
- Folino drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
- Robinson, Rachel Seneca (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) and Maisy Post (North East, Pa./North East) all hit singles.
- Mackenzie Keber (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) pitched 5.1 innings of relief, allowing three earned runs.
Game Two - Hiram 10, Allegheny 3
Phillips singled in the top of the first before Jones drew a walk to put two runners on. A two-out single by Folino loaded the bases, but the Terriers got out of the jam without allowing a run. Hiram then took the lead in the second, scoring seven runs.
The Gators got on the board in the bottom of the second when Robinson drove in Seneca on a single.
After the Terriers scored in the top of the third, the Gators responded in the bottom of the frame. Folino drew a walk before Foley and
Madalyn Myers (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) hit back-to-back singles to load the bases. Keber was hit by a pitch to score the first one. Seneca then drove in Foley on a sacrifice fly, cutting the deficit to 8-3.
The Terriers added to their lead in the sixth, tacking on another pair of runs.
In the seventh, the Gators put a runner on as
Riley Lorah (Waterford, Pa./General McLane) drew a leadoff walk and Myers singled, but the Gators were unable to push a run across as they fell in their season finale.

- In her final game, Phillips went three-for-four at the plate.
- Robinson and Keber each singled and drove a run in.
- Seneca brought a run in on a sacrifice fly.
- Myers had a pair of hits.
- Folino and Foley both singled.
- Kassidy Samuelraj (Solon, Ohio/Solon) pitched 5.1 innings in relief, allowing three earned runs.
