NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Jacob Boord (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) led the Allegheny College men's track and field team with another javelin victory at the Westminster College Invitational on Saturday.
Boord was victorious in the javelin for the second time in three competitions this season. He reached 62.23 meters on his third throw, which was .78 meters better than Dalton Anderson of Division II Slippery Rock University.
The Gators also received a top-five performance from
Stephen Cullinan (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) in the pole vault. Cullinan, who also turned in a personal-record time in the 200-meter dash, placed third overall and ranks third in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) at 3.91 meters.
Caleb Freeman (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) placed fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in his second attempt at the event this season. He shaved more than 26 seconds off of his time from last week's Bob Kahn Invitational at Oberlin College with a new PR of 10:14.54.
Four of the six Allegheny runners in the 1,500-meter race earned new PR times. That group was headed by first-year mid-distance athlete
Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair), who was sixth overall at 4:03.00.
Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin),
Peter Lantz (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg), and
Mac Polny (Robinson, Pa./Montour) each had personal bests while placing ninth, 10th, and 16th, respectively.
