GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Second-year distance runner
Desmond Corrado (Crafton, Pa./Carlynton) picked up his second victory of the outdoor season to lead the Allegheny College track and field team at the 2023 Tomcat Invitational, hosted by Thiel College on Saturday.
Corrado, who won the 10,000-meter race at Oberlin College's Bob Kahn Invitational two weeks ago, was first out of 26 competitors in the 5,000-meter run at Thiel. He finished the race with a personal-record time of 15:45.03, more than 30 seconds ahead of the runner-up from Grove City College.
The Gators also had two second-place performances at the Tomcat Invitational. In the 800-meter race,
Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) logged a PR of 1:58.21 and was only nine-hundredths of a second behind the winner from Division II Seton Hill University.
Like Jooste in the 800m,
Colm Mulligan (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brookline) only trailed a D-II athlete from Seton Hill and set a new PR in the 1,500-meter mid-distance run. Mulligan was clocked at 4:04.66 and was less than 10 seconds behind the leader.
