USTFCCCA Release
NEW ORLEANS -- For the first time in five years, the Allegheny College men's track and field team received Great Lakes All-Region honors for the indoor season.
Stephen Cullinan (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) was an NCAA Division III Great Lakes All-Region selection by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in recognition of his record-setting performance in the heptathlon. The fourth-year Maryland native, who specializes in the multi-events, recorded the fourth-best heptathlon score in the region with 4,620 points. Not only did he set a program record for points, but it was also enough for Cullinan to win the heptathlon at the Akron Invitational over a trio of Division I student-athletes.
The last time Allegheny earned All-Region awards during the men's indoor track and field season was in 2017-18, when John Hughes '18 and Matt Svetz '19 were honored in the one-mile and 5,000-meter races, respectively.
Cullinan was also one of two Gators to receive All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) honors in 2022-23. After winning the pole vault at the PAC Indoor Championships, he was an All-PAC First Team recipient.
To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their event in their respective region on the TFRRS Descending Order List. In addition, each member of a top-3 relay team was selected for the distinction.
