Gators close out PAC Championships with several top finishes

GROVE CITY, Pa. –
The Allegheny men's swimming and diving team concluded competition at the 2023 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships Saturday (Feb. 18).
 
A pair of runner-up individual finishes by Daniel Jackson (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick) and Pierre Jaeggi (Fountain Valley, Calif./Valiant Prep), as well as one by the 400 freestyle relay team, highlighted the final day.
 
Jackson swam in the championship final of the 200 breaststroke. Improving on his prelim time of 2:10.29, Jackson touched the wall at 2:07.56 to finish in second.
 
Jaeggi qualified for the championship final of the 200 butterfly. After shaving nearly three seconds off of his prelim time, the senior clocked in at 1:57.76 to take second.
 
The Championships concluded with the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Jackson, Jack Malnar (Broadview, Ohio/Broadview-Brecksville Heights), Emmett Manning (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) and Dalton Lodzins (Anchorage, Alaska/Chugiak) put together another second place finish, touching the wall at a time of 3:08.35. That time improved upon their season best and moved them up to second all-time in program history.
 
After four days of competition, the Gators finished in fourth, accumulating 467 points.
 
The evening session began with the 1650 freestyle. Daniel Logue (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) took 13th in the event with a time of 19:45.81.
 
The Gators were well represented in the 100 freestyle finals with five swimmers competing. Lodzins, Malnar and Manning competed in the championship final. Lodzins had the top finish of the group, taking fourth with a time of 46.95, moving up to the seventh fastest time in program history. Malanar was just behind in fifth with a time of 47.82 while Manning took seventh at 48.29.
 
Jacob Anderson (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) and Emmet Fluharty (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) swam in the consolation final of the 100 freestyle. Anderson took second in the heat to finish 10th overall with a time of 49.98. Fluharty took 12th with a time of 50.99.

The second 400 relay team of Jaeggi, Logue, Anderson and Fluharty took 10th with a time of 3:23.25.
