GROVE CITY, Pa. – Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) won the 2023 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) 100 Breaststroke title as the Allegheny women's swimming and diving team continued to excel at the conference championships Friday (Feb. 17).
Reiter had the top prelim time in the 100 breaststroke at 1:09.25. In the championship final, she improved upon that time, clocking in at 1:08.61, just .06 seconds ahead of the runner-up. The title marked the second of the weekend for the Gators as
Olivia Kraus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) won the 50 freestyle the day before.
Ariana Clark (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) competed in a pair of individual championship finals. She earned the second seed in the 400 individual medley while also qualifying in the 100 backstroke. Clark finished third in the individual medley with a personal best time of 4:50.11. In the backstroke, Clark took seventh with a time of 1:02.36.
Kraus and
Maggie Baham (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) earned spots in the championship final of the 100 butterfly while
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) competed in the consolation final. Kraus finished fourth with a time of 59.49 while Baham was just behind in fifth with a time of 1:01.52. Kohler won the consolation final with a time of 1:04.93.
Jenna Halenda (Mars, Pa./Mars) competed in the 200 freestyle championship final while
Katya Pryshchenko (Berwyn, Pa./Aim Academy) swam in the consolation final. In the championship final, Halenda took fifth with a time of 2:01.38. Pryshchenko finished 11th with a time of 2:04.11.
Emily Spitz (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) swam in the consolation final of the 100 breaststroke. She finished 10th with a time of 1:13.05.
Skyler Masse (Akron, N.Y./Akron) raced in the consolation finals of the 100 backstroke. She placed 14th with a time of 1:08.74.
The evening session ended with the 200 medley relay. The squad of Clark, Reiter, Baham and Kraus finished third with a time of 1:49.54. The other Gator team of Masse, Spitz,
Emma Afton (Brookville, Pa./Brookville Area) and Pryshchenko took 11th with a time of 1:59.58.
After three days of events, the Gators sit in fourth with 325 points.
The event concludes Saturday (Feb. 18) with the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and the 400 freestyle relay. Prelims start at 10 am while the finals commence at 5:30 pm.
