Gators earn three runner-up finishes on day two of PAC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. –
The Allegheny men's swimming and diving team continued competition at the 2023 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships Thursday (Feb. 16), earning three runner-up finishes.
 
Daniel Jackson (Warwick, Pa./Warwick Valley) had the top individual finish for the Gators. He earned a spot in the 200 individual medley championship final after finishing prelims with the second fastest time. He maintained that spot in the championship finals with a time of 1:57.35.
 
The evening started for the Gators with the 200 freestyle relay. The squad of Dalton Lodzins (Anchorage, Alaska/Chugiak), Emmet Fluharty (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights), Jack Malnar (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and Emmett Manning (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) finished as the runner-up. Their time of 1:26.96 earned the team 34 points.
 
Pierre Jaeggi (Fountain Valley, Calif./Valiant Prep) and Malnar qualified for the 500 freestyle championship final while Daniel Logue (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) earned a spot in the event's consolation final. Jaeggi placed fifth with a time of 4:52.39 to earn 14 points while Malnar placed eighth with a time of 5:03.77, earning 11 points. Louge finished 16th overall with a time of 5:37.20 to earn a point. 
 
Manning and Lodzins qualified for the championship final of the 50 freestyle while Fluharty and Jacob Anderson (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) earned a spot in the consolation final. Manning placed fourth with a time of 21.26, earning the team 15 points. Lodzins finished in sixth with a time of 21.49, gaining 13 points. In the consolation final, Fluarty's time of 23.03 earned him 11th place and six points while Anderson's time of 23.38 earned him 13th and four points.
 
The evening ended with the 400 medley relay. The team Manning, Jackson, Jaeggi and Lodzins finished second in a dramatic finish, clocking in at 3:30.57. The other Gator squad of Logue, Fluharty, Malnar and Anderson finished 12th to earn 10 points.
 
After two days of competition, the Gators currently sit in fourth with 193 points.
 
The PAC Championships continue on Friday (Feb. 17) with the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 medley relay. Prelims begin at 10 am with the finals starting at 6 pm.
