CLEVELAND, Ohio --
The Allegheny College men's track and field team traveled to Case Western Reserve University for the 10th Annual Spartan Holiday Classic to kick off the 2023-24 indoor season on Saturday.

Not only was it the first meet of the winter, but eight of the 10 Gators in attendance made their Allegheny debuts inside Case Western Reserve's Veale Center. Among the newcomers were four freshmen and one transfer.

Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock), who joined the Gators after earning All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honors at Bridgewater College, had a busy day in the 60- and 200-meter dashes and the 60-meter hurdles. After placing third in the 60-meter dash, he set a personal record in the 60-meter hurdle prelims and took fifth in the finals.

First-year sprinter Austin Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) had two top-eight finishes, highlighted by a bronze-medal performance in the 400-meter dash. Fellow rookie Jacob Williams (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) competed in the 60-meter dash, high jump, and long jump. Williams' best event was the high jump, as he placed ninth at 1.80 meters.

Allegheny's top finish came from one of two returning athletes who made the trip to Cleveland. In addition to his PR in the 200-meter dash, junior Jake Folaron (Murrysville, Pa./Kiski Area) was the runner-up in the 500-meter run. He trailed the winner from Mount Vernon Nazarene University by just 0.37 seconds with a time of 1:11.44.
