MEADVILLE, Pa. -- In the pool for the first time in nearly two months, the Allegheny College men's swimming and diving team performed well on Friday but ultimately fell to visitng Westminster College, 160-131.
The final score from the Mellon Pool may be a little deceiving. While the Titans (2-2) walked away with the win, they only did so because their three divers went uncontested by Allegheny (2-4). Without the points from the one- and three-meter dives, the Gators were the better team by a 131-128 score.
Of the 14 swimming events, the Gators were first in 10. Second-year standout
Daniel Jackson (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) and senior
Pierre Jaeggi (Fountain Valley, Calif./Valiant Prep) led the way by winning all four of their respective events. Both Jackson and Jaeggi were a part of the 200-yard medley relay, the first competition of the evening, which helped Allegheny set an early tone with a near six-second win.
The other relay unit, composed of
Dalton Lodzins (Anchorage, Alaska/Chugiak),
Emmet Fluharty (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights),
Jacob Anderson (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown), and
Emmett Manning (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel), ended the dual meet by placing first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:32.98.
