NORTH EAST, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's golf team finished seventh at the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational while playing a tough field made up almost entirely of Division II opponents.

Allegheny and Penn State Behrend were the only two Division III programs to play 36 holes at the Lake View Country Club. The Gators, who were sixth after the first round, placed seventh overall with a two-day score of 615 (+39). Allegheny edged eight-place Glenville State College by a single stroke and held a 29-stroke lead over the Lions from Penn State Behrend.

Zachary Melzar (Sterling, Mass./Wachusett Regional) logged a top-20 finish by tying for 17th with Derek Graham of West Liberty University and Daniel Milo of Lake Erie College. With a pair of identical 3-over 75s, Melzar finished with a 6-over 150 and was nine strokes behind the winners from Gannon University.

Playing on his hometown course, Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) moved up four spots on the second day and tied for 22nd. Tanner Sliker (Edinboro, Pa./Cathedral Prep) was the biggest mover for Allegheny, as he climbed 11 places to finish in a tie with teammate Bergas Anargya (Jakarta, Indonesia/Binus School Simprug) for 27th.
