PAC Release
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) of the Allegheny College women's tennis team received the first award of her collegiate career on Monday afternoon, as the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) crowned her the Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 11.
Lounder has helped the Gators, who were elected No. 1 in the 2022 PAC Preseason Coaches Poll, start the fall portion of the 2022-23 season with back-to-back 9-0 victories. As Allegheny's No. 5 singles player, the first-year standout has dropped only one game in straight-set wins against Houghton College's Alexandria Leary and Geneva College's Jenna Allison.
No. 2 in the doubles lineup alongside
Katherine Marks (Argyle, Texas/Liberty Christian), Lounder secured an 8-1 win over Houghton's tandem of Leary and Marilynn Amborski on September 6, before recording an unblemished 8-0 win over the Geneva duo of Delaney Winterhalter and Cejaelyn Perednia three days later.
Lounder and the Gators will continue their PAC schedule with a road match at Franciscan University at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14.
