MEADVILLE, Pa. -- For the fourth consecutive year, the top-seeded Allegheny College women's tennis team will compete for the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) championship.
The Gators (11-0) punched their ticket to the championship match with a 4-0 sweep of No. 4 Washington and Jefferson College (10-4) on Thursday afternoon at the Robertson Athletic Complex. Allegheny will host No. 2-seeded Grove City College (9-3) in the PAC Championship Tournament finals on Saturday, October 18, at 1 p.m.
Eight days after beating the Presidents in the PAC regular-season finale, the Gators downed W&J in a similar fashion. Allegheny earned the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 and a 6-0 shutout at No. 2.
The No. 2 doubles duo of
Gabrielle Bassette (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day School) and
Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) were the first two to complete their singles matches. Bassette dropped only one game against Claire Loomis in the top spot, while Lounder defeated Cole Paisley, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 5.
Rei Etsumi (Honolulu, Hawaii/President William McKinley) clinched the semifinal out of the sixth spot with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Austyn Paugh.

Winners of two of the last three PAC championships, the Gators will face Grove City in a rematch of the 2023 title match. Allegheny will look to avenge their championship loss to the Wolverines from two years ago, having beaten them during the regular season, 5-2, back on October 1.Â
