MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny track and field teams competed in a slew of events this past weekend (Feb. 18-20) in preparation for the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Indoor Championships.
 
The Gators competed at the Edinboro Last Chance Meet Friday (Feb. 18), the Mount Union Raider Tune-up Saturday (Feb. 19) and competition started in the 2022 NCAC Indoor Championships with the heptathlon at Wooster Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 19-20).
 
Matt Reynolds (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) kicked-off the NCAC Indoor Championships for the Gators as they competed at the heptathlon, hosted by Wooster. He finished 13th with 2,665 points.
 
For the men at Edinboro, Anthony Steinpreis (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos De Niza) carded a runner-up finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.77 seconds. Additionally, he took third in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.22 seconds. Jacob King (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) was third in the weight throw with a distance of 14.01 meters.
 
At Mount Union, Tylir Shannon (Transfer, Pa./Reynolds) had the top individual finish for the men, taking third in the 200 dash with a time of 23.03 seconds.  
 
At Edinboro for the women, Lydia Giannini (Warren, Pa./Eisenhower) and Rachel Walters (Mount Lebanon, Pa./Mount Lebanon) had the top individual finishes for the women.  Giannini was second in the weight throw with a toss of 15.06 meters while Walters was second in the one mile run with a time of 6:05.80. Erin O'Neill (Bardstown, Ky./Nelson County) was third in the one mile with a time of 6:07.92.
 
Mihaela Toader (Mount Lebanon, Pa./Mount Lebanon) won the 500 dash at Mount Union, finishing with a time of 1:23.73. Toader also placed third at the 200 dash with a time of 27.30 seconds.
 
The Gators return to action next weekend (Feb. 25-26) when they compete at the NCAC Indoor Championships, hosted by Wittenberg.
