GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Allegheny swimming and diving teams continued at day three of the 2022 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships.
The event concludes Saturday (Feb. 12).
Women
During the 50 freestyle time trial following the scheduled events of the day,
Olivia Kraus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) found her way into the Allegheny record books as her time in the trial of 24.07 broke the school record in the event. The previous fastest time of 24.10 was set twice, once in 1990 by Cynthia Kangos and again in 2009 by Ashley Whitehead.
The 200 medley relay team of
Ariana Clark (Freeport, Pa./Freeport),
Maggie Bilquin (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls),
Maggie Baham (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) and Kraus took fifth with a time of 1:48.94.
Sadie Brown (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community) qualified for the A-finals of the 100 butterfly. With a time of 59.62, Brown finished eighth. Baham and Kraus also qualified for the finals in the event. Baham won the B-Finals with a time of 59.83 to take ninth while Kraus took 20th with a time of 1:01.54.
Jenna Halenda (Mars, Pa./Mars),
Julie Hoffman (St. Mary's, Pa./Elk County Catholic),
Katya Pryshchenko (Berwyn, Pa./Aim Academy) and
Emily Spitz (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) swam in the 200 freestyle finals. Halenda finished in 18th with a time of 2:01.67. Hoffman won the C-Finals with a time of 2:01.98 to take 19th. Pryshchenko clocked in at 2:04.88 to take 23rd while Spitz took 27th with a time of 2:08.70.
Bilquin,
Jennifer Hiles (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) and
Leah Frase (Madison, Ohio/Madison) qualified for the 100 breaststroke finals. Bilquin finished 12th with a time of 1:09.71. Hiles took 24th with a time of 1:17.85 while Frase was just behind in 25th with a time of 1:18.14.
Clark,
Megan Munzek (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) and
Skyler Masse (Akron, N.Y./Akron) swam in the 100 backstroke finals. Clark took 11th with a time of 1:00.48. Munzek took 17th with a time of 1:02.78 while Masse placed 27th with a time of 1:09.48.
At the end of day three, the Gators sit in seventh with a score of 375.
Men
The 200 medley relay team of Gavin Stuckey (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern), Daniel Jackson (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley), Pierre Jaeggi (Fountain Valley, Calif./Valiant Prep) and Emmett Manning (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) finished sixth with a time of 1:35.08.
Jackson qualified for Allegheny's first A-final of the event in the 400 IM. He finished eighth with a time of 4:13.71. Joe McNutt (Holly Springs, N.C./Holly Springs) also competed in the finals of the event, placing 17th with a time of 4:30.43.
Jaeggi and Manning swam in the 100 butterfly finals. Jaeggi took 13th with a time of 52.06 while Manning placed 15th with a time of 52.52.
Jack Malnar (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) qualified for the 200 freestyle finals, winning the C-Finals with a time of 1:48.55, placing 19th.
Dalton Lodzins (Anchorage, Alaska/Chugiak) swam in the 100 breaststroke finals, placing 15th with a time of 59.87.
Stuckey and Jacob Anderson (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) participated in the finals of the 100 backstroke. Stucky took 13th with a time of 53.64 while Anderson placed 24th with a time of 59.11.
At the end of day three, the Gators sit in seventh place with 407.5 points.
