GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Allegheny swimming & diving teams continued competition at the 2022 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships Thursday (Feb. 10), hosted by Denison.
Women
The women's 200 freestyle relay team of
Sadie Brown (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community),
Maggie Baham (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen),
Katya Pryshchenko (Berwyn, Pa./Aim Academy) and
Olivia Kraus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) placed fourth with a time of 1:38.15.
Jenna Halenda (Mars, Pa./Mars) , Pryshchenko, and
Julie Hoffman (St. Mary's, Pa./Elk County Catholic) swam in the 500 freestyle finals. Halenda took 20th with a time of 5:29.30. Pryshchenko finished 22nd with a time of 5:31.19 while Hoffman finished 27th with a time of 5:46.44.
Ariana Clark (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) swam in the finals in the 200 IM, placing 22nd with a time of 2:17.21.
The Gators had three qualifiers for the evening finals in the 50 freestyle. Kraus carded the women's top individual finish for the night, finishing 12th with a time of 24.15. Brown placed 14th with a time of 24.39 while Baham took 21st with a time of 25.62.
The 400 medley relay team of Clark,
Maggie Bilquin (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls), Brown and Kraus took fourth with a time of 4:02.28.
At the end of day two, the Gators sit in seventh-place with a score of 178.
Men
The men's 200 freestyle relay team of Dalton Lodzins (Anchorage, Alaska/Chugiak), Jack Malnar (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), Jacob Anderson (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) and Emmett Manning (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) placed sixth with a time of 1:26.66.
Malnar and Pierre Jaeggi (Fountain Valley, Calif./Valiant Prep) competed in the finals of the 500 freestyle. Malnar finished in 17th with a time of 4:57.02 while Jaeggi was just behind him in 18th with a time of 5:00.08.
In the 200 IM, Daniel Jackson (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) and Joe McNutt (Holly Springs, N.C./Holly Springs) represented the Gators in the finals. Jackson finished with a time of 1:55.99 to take 12th while McNutt took 20th with a time of 2:04.35.
Manning and Lodzins qualified for the finals of the 50 freestyle. Placing 11th with a time of 21.34, Manning had the top individual finish for the men on the night. Lodzins won the C-finals heat as he took 19th with a time of 21.50.
The 400 medley relay team of Gavin Stuckey (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern), Jackson, Jaeggi and Manning placed seventh with a time of 3:32.00.
At the end of day two, the Gators sit in sixth-place with a score of 239.5.
