Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) led the Allegheny men's golf team with a record setting runner-up finish at the Transylvania Fall Invitational.

Hassenplug shot rounds of 70 and 71 Saturday (Sept. 4) before a four-under 68 in the final round Sunday (Sept. 5) to finish at a seven-under 209. His score of 209 broke the previous 54 hole Allegheny record of 211 set by Louis Olsakovsky in 2018. Hassenplug was named to the All-Tournament team.

Overall, the Gators finished the 20 team, 102 golfer event in 11th-place.

Ryan Dayton (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) tied for 22nd with a score of 219.Â
Faaris Cheema (Dubai, UAE/Kings School Al Barsha) was third on the team, tying for 66th with a score of 230.Â
Shane Kelley (Glenshaw, Pa./Central Catholic) tied for 69th with a score of 231.Â
Zachary Melzar (Sterling, Mass./Wachusett Regional) rounded out the Gators with a score of 244 to place 88th.

The Gators return to action Sept. 12-13 at the Belterra Intercollegiate event in Florence, Ind.
