Gators place four in top five versus Hiram

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The Allegheny men's golf team took on Hiram for the first of two rounds on two different courses over two days when the squads competed at the Denison Golf Club, with the Gators earning a 315-365 win.

Matthew Del Rosso (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) earned medalist honors with a plus-2 73. He did so by carding seven birdies, more than the rest of the field combined, and going 36 out before posting a 37 on the way back in. Del Rosso led both teams in scoring on both par 4 and par 5 holes, shooting +1 on par 4s and -3 over par 5s.

Ryan Dayton (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) was second for the Gators, and overall, finishing with a 5-over 76 (37-39). Dayton had four more pars than the next competitor, writing in 12 pars on the day, while leading all players on par 3 holes at +1.

Tanner Sliker (Edinboro, Pa./Cathedral Prep) took third overall with a plus-11 82 (40-42) thanks to hitting the par number eight times. Shane Kelley (Glenshaw, Pa./Central Catholic) came in fifth on the day two strokes behind Sliker at 84 (39-45) while Alex Lawson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) rounded out the Gators' lineup with an 86 (44-42).

James Stoltenberg (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) competed as an individual and recorded a 92 (49-43).

The two teams will once again be back in action on Sunday, April 18 when they compete in a single-round dual at the Country Club of Meadville.
