Gator men finish sixth at NCAC Championships

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The Allegheny men's swimming and diving teams concluded competition at the 2020 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships Saturday (Feb. 15).
 
The Gators finished the four day event in sixth-place, racking up a score of 768.5. 
 
The day started with the 1650 freestyle. Daniel Logue (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) placed 20th with a time of 18:34.03 while Thomas Schultz (Newfane, N.Y./Newfane) finished in 22nd place at 19:07.46.
 
Karl Stuntzner-Gibson (North Bend, Ore./North Bend) opened the evening events by competing in the 100 individual medley A Final.  He turned in the the best individual finish in the pool for the Gators as he placed fifth with a time of 53.98.  
 
Wil Visnic (Weirton, W. Va./Weir) and Arcadio Leary-Bignayan III (Seattle, Wash./O'Dea) raced in the B final of the event.  Visnic won the heat to take 10th overall with a time of 55.63 while Leary-Bignayan III took 15th with (57.50).  In the C Final, Tucker Harvey (Novelty, Ohio/West Geauga) clocked in at 1:00.52 to take 20th.
 
Jack Van Meter (Altoona, Iowa/Southeast Polk) and Daniel Beck (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) swam in the B Final of the 200 backstroke.  Van Meter finished 12th (2:01.63) while Beck took 15th (2:04.89)
 
Rayshon Knight II (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) qualified for the B Final of the 100 freestyle.  He placed 18th overall with a mark of 49.03.
 
Justin Katchur (Iwrin, Pa./Hempfield) qualified for his second A Final of the week as he swam in the championship heat of the 200 breaststroke.  He finished the race in eighth with a time of 2:08.03.
 
Benjamin Blackburn (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) made the B Final of the event, taking 18th with a mark of 2:16.73. Leary-Bignayan III made the C Final with Batmunkh Munkhjargal (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia). Leary-Bignayan won the heat to take 19th overall (2:18.41) while Munkjargal took 25th (2:38.88).
 
Pierre Jaeggi (Fountain Valley, Calif./Valiant Prep) and Logan Indest (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) made the B Final of the 200 butterfly. Jaeggi took 13th (1:57.28) while Indest finished 15th (1:58.70). Thomas Schultz (Newfane, N.Y./Newfane) qualified for the C Final, finishing 26th overall with a time of 2:15.77.
 
The Gators closed the Championships in the 400 freestyle relay.  The squad of Knight II, Jaeggi, Katchur and Stuntzner-Gibson placed seventh with a time of 3:12.54.
