The Gator defense posted its second shutout of 1990 as Allegheny routed Wittenberg, 38-0. The Gators stormed to their fifth straight win, holding the nation's leading rusher, John Warga to 63 yards -- 135 below his season average. NCAC Player-of-the-Week Jeff Filkovski completed 14-of-18 passes for 189 yards and two TDs on a rain-soaked and muddy Robertson Field. After tailback Jerry O'Brien (117 yards on 17 carries) ran 41 yards for the game's first score, Filkovski went to work, hooking up with flanker Julio Lacayo for a 22-yard touchdown. He then found Jim Carroll on a 12-yard square-in and the Gators romped to a 21-0 halftime lead. Filkovski, who doubled as the Gator punter, led the NCAA Division III in pass efficiency after six games.
