Undefeated Football Receives Votes in Latest AFCA Poll

WACO, Texas -- Amid the team's best start to a season in three decades, Allegheny College football was among several teams receiving votes in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' Poll.

Although not ranked in the top 25, Allegheny received five votes in the most recent coaches' poll.

At 5-0, the Gators are off to their best start since 1996. That year, they won 10 consecutive games en route to a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) title and an NCAA tournament bid.

Last time out, Allegheny earned its biggest victory of the season, a 41-10 rout of Thiel College on October 3. The Gators also own Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) wins over Saint Vincent College (27-23) and Waynesburg University (38-20). With a 3-0 conference record, Allegheny is tied atop the standings alongside Washington and Jefferson College and Grove City College.

Allegheny and W&J, which earned 12 votes in the AFCA poll, will meet this Saturday, October 17, at Frank B. Fuhrer '48 Field. The Gators and Presidents will clash at 1 p.m.
