Allegheny 30, Juniata 30
September 8, 1990, Huntingdon, Pa.
Allegheny began its 94th season with a bang as Julio Lacayo ran back the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. After Juniata tied the score on a 1-yard run by Dennis DeRenzo, Allegheny's Steve Boucher kicked a 20-yard field goal. AC then went 48 yards on four plays (including a 44-yard pass from Jeff Filkovski to tailback Jerry O'Brien) and took a 17-7 lead at the half. After the teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter, Juniata put together three drives of more than 60 yards to take a 30-24 lead with 1:10 remaining. But Allegheny responded with a 54-yard march, scoring the tying touchdown with eight seconds left. The point after, though, was wide left, and the Gators settled for a tie in Head Coach Ken O'Keefe's debut.
