MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's swimming and diving team remained undefeated on the year as they collected a 188-48 win on senior day against Fredonia Saturday (Jan. 25).
The Gators finish the regular season portion of their 2019-20 schedule with a 7-0 record in dual meets, and wins in all three invitationals they have competed in.
Before the meet, the Gators honored their eight seniors:
Riley Aul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills),
Alyson Codner (Harvard, Mass./The Bromfield School),
Miranda Farley (Cleveland, Ohio/North Royalton),
Kaitlin Franzen (Jamestown, N.Y./Frewsburg Central),
Maddie Janvrin (Woodridge, Ill./Naperville),
Brionna Litwin (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park),
Rachel Montgomery (Vienna, Va./McLean) and
McClaren Rodriguez (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City).
Nine different Gators won individual events on the day.
Emily Schaefer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.80. She also placed second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:19.98 as well as the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.82.
Rodriguez and Farley collected wins on their senior day. Rodriguez finished first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:16.65 while Farley took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.88
Anna Verardi (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.04.
Maggie Baham (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) picked up a win in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:21.47.
Ariana Clark (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) captured first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:16.05.
Lauren Isaacs (Philadelphia, Pa./Penncrest) had a victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:33.10.
On her senior day, Janvrin placed second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:17.37.
Sadie Brown (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community) had a pair of runner-up finishes coming in the 50 free with a time of 25.23 and the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:21.86.
Aimee Verardi (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) took second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:01.16.
Olivia Maack (Bristol, Ind./Elkhart Central) had a second-place posting in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:33.75.
Savannah Plaskon (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:38.07 while
Megan Corletti (Monroeville, Pa./Oakland Catholic) finished second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:36.88.
The 400 medley relay team of Janvrin, Isaacs,
Anna Verardi and Rodriguez and the 200 freestyle relay team of Farley,
Aimee Verardi,
Anna Verardi and Rodriguez picked up victories.
In the diving portion of the event,
Chelsea Pietrzycki (Parma, Ohio/Parma) won the the one meter board with a regional qualifying score of 271.35 while Litwin won the three meter dive with a score of 261.30. Litwin also hit a regional qualifying score on the one meter board with a score of 258.
The Gators are back in action Feb. 12-15 at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships, hosted by Denison.
