GRANVILLE, Ohio—The Allegheny College women's swimming and diving wrapped-up competition at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships Saturday (Feb. 16).
The Gators finished the event in fifth-place with 1005.5 points. The point total was their highest in over 10 years. Kenyon College won the event with a score of 1937. Host Denison University finished in second with 1882 points.
The final evening started with the 1650-yard freestyle.
Alyson Codner had the top placing for the Gators, taking 15
th with a time of 18:52.96.
Claire Collier finished 20
th with a time of 19:54.00.
Rachel Montgomery rounded out the Gator swimmers in the event, taking 22
nd with a time of 20:23.48. The trio earned 29 team points.
After the 1650, the women had three finalists for the 100-yard individual medley, including two in the A-Final.
Aimee Verardi and
Miranda Farley swam in the A-Final. Verardi touched with a time of 1:01.50 to finish in sixth, while Farley finished at 1:02.47 to take ninth.
Savannah Plaskon swam in the B-Final, winning the heat with a time of 1:01.91 to take 10
th overall. The three earned the Gators 73 points.
After the 100 IM, the Gators had two in the 200-yard backstroke.
Anna Verardi competed in the A-Finals, finishing ninth with a time of 2:07.81.
Megan Munzek then swam in the C-Finals, winning the heat to take 19
th overall with a time of 2:21.17. The two earned the Gators 34 points.
The Gators were well represented in the 100-yard freestyle. The trio of
McClaren Rodriguez,
Aimee Verardi and
Sadie Brown swam the B-Finals. Rodriguez touched at 53.63 to take 13
th overall. Verardi was not far behind, finishing in 14th with a time of 54.05. Brown rounded out the trio with a time of 54.07 to take 15th.
Lizzy Kee swam in the C-Finals, finishing 21st overall with a time of 1:00.01. The quartet earned the Gators 55 points.
Lauren Isaacs swam in her second A-Finals of the Championships as she earned the spot in the 200-yard breaststroke. Isaacs finished with a time of 2:24.86 to take eighth.
Megan Corletti and Kaitlyn Franzen swam in the B-Finals. Corletti won the heat, finishing 10th overall with a time of 2:28.69, while Franzen finished 18th with a time of 2:38.56. Montgomery competed in the C-Finals, taking 25th overall with a time of 2:54.11. Combined the four earned 62 points.
Similar to the 100 free, the Gators were well represented in the 200-yard butterfly.
Emily Schaefer, Farley,
Rachel Tobler and
Riley Aul all qualified for the B-Finals. Schaefer won the heat, finishing 10th overall with a time of 2:12.98. Tobler touched at 2:16.90 to earn to place 15th. Farley finished 16th with a time of 2:17.80, while Aul finished 18th with a time of 2:25.04. The four Gators combined to earn 63 team points.
The championships ended in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Gator team of Farley,
Aimee Verardi,
Anna Verardi and Rodriguez finished fourth with a time of 3:34.31, earning 58 points.
