GRANVILLE, Ohio—The Allegheny College men's swimming and diving team concluded competition at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships Saturday (Feb. 16).
The Gators finished the event in seventh-place, racking up 720 points. Host Denison University narrowly won the event, outscoring Kenyon College 1851-1829.5.
Dalton Lodzins kicked off the individual events with an appearance in the A-Finals of the 100-yard individual medley. Lodzins finished the heat in ninth place with a time of 54.53.
Justin Katchur and
Justin Leary-Bignayan swam in the B-Finals. Katchur finished 12th with a time of 54.57, while Leary-Bignayan finished 17th with a time of 56.72.
Tucker Harvey made the C-Finals, finishing 27th overall with a time of 59.77. The quarter earned the Gators 56 points.
Jack Van Meter and Will Visnic qualified for the B-Finals of the 200-yard backstroke. Van Meter placed 15th overall with a time of 2:01.49, while Visnic took 18th with a time of 2:08.05. The pair earned 27 points
Rayshon Knight swam in the C-Finals of the 100-yard freestyle. Knight finished the event 27th overall with a time of 49.29.
The Gators had four swimmers qualify for finals in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Justin Katchur,
Brian Corletti and
Ben Blackburn swam in the B-Finals. Katchur touched at a time of 2:09.92 to take 12th. Corletti finished 15th with a time of 2:12.68, while Blackburn finished 18th with a time of 2:16.40. Leary-Bignayan earned a spot in the C-Finals, taking 20th overall with a time of 2:13.87. The four combined to earn 53 points.
In the final individual swimming event, the Gators placed four in the 200-yard butterfly.
Logan Indest and
Karl Stuntzner-Gibson swam in the B-Finals. Indest finished 11th overall with a time of 1:54.97, while Stuntzner-Gibson took 14th with a time of 2:00.38.
Anastasios Mihalopoulos and
Thomas Schultz swam in the C-Finals. Mihalopoulos finished 24
th with a time of 2:19.29, while Schultz took 25th with a time of 2:19.59. They combined for 42 points.
Hunter Pietrzycki and
Riley Rizzer competed in the finals of the three-meter dive. Pietrzycki had the top finish, taking sixth with a score of 288.10. Rizzer finished in eighth, tallying 283.20 points.
The evening ended in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Lodzins, Knight, Katchur and Stuntzner-Gibson finished the race in eighth with a time of 3:14.39, earning 50 points.
