GRANVILLE, Ohio—The Allegheny College women's swimming and diving team earned 301 points Friday (Feb. 15) at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
The Gators kicked off the night in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Anna Verardi,
Lauren Isaacs,
Aimee Verardi and
Sadie Brown placed fifth with a time of 1:49.25. The result earned the Gators 56 points.
In the first individual event of the evening, the Gators had a pair of swimmers in the 400-yard individual medley finals. In the B-Finals,
Emily Schaefer won the heat as she finished ninth overall with a time of 4:44.33.
Riley Aul swam in the C-Final, placing 20th overall with a time of 5:08.10. The pair combined for 30 team points.
The Gators followed up with three swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly finals. Brown and
Aimee Verardi swam in the B-Finals. Brown finished 12th overall with a time of 59.62 while Verardi finished 14th overall with a time of 59.99.
Rachel Tobler swam in the C-Finals, taking 22
nd overall with a time of 1:01.23. The Gator trip earned 40 team points.
Allegheny was well represented in the 200-yard freestyle finals, with four swimmers competing in the evening. Miranada Farley,
McClaren Rodriguez and
Alyson Codner swam in the B-Finals. Farley finished 11th overall with a time of 1:56.85. Rodriguez took 13th place with a time of 1:57.36 while Codner finished 16th with a time of 2:00.72.
Claire Collier swam in the C-Finals, taking 21st overall with a time of 2:07.41. The four swimmers tallied 47 points for the Gators.
Isaacs earned the first trip to the A-Finals for the Gators as she swam in the 100-yard breaststroke. With a time of 1:07.12, Isaacs finished in ninth place.
Megan Corletti, Kaitlyn Franzen and
Savannah Plaskon all competed in the C-Final of the event. Corletti won the heat as she finished 19th overall with a time of 1:09.53. Plaskon was just behind Corletti, taking 20th place with a time of 1:10.19 while Franzen touched in at 1:10.95 to finish 23rd. The four finishes earned the Gators 47 points.
In the final swimming event of the evening, a trio of Gators earned spots in the finals of the 100-yard backstroke.
Anna Verardi swam in the B-Finals, taking 11th overall with a time of 59.28. In the C-Finals,
Megan Munzek finished with a time of 1:03.50 to take 21
st overall, while
Lizzy Kee took 26th with a time of 1:09.37. The trio earned 28 points.
Brionna Litwin and
Chelsea Pietrzycki closed the night out in the one-meter dive. Litwin scored 368.80 points to take sixth, while Pietrzycki took seventh with a score of 362.55. The divers added 53 points for the Gators.
Going into the final day of competition Saturday (Feb. 16), the Gators sit in fifth place with a total of 631.5 points.
