OBERLIN, Ohio—The Allegheny women's swimming and diving team competed at the three-day Oberlin Invite Friday to Sunday (Nov. 22-24) in Ohio.
The Gators walked away from Oberlin with the team title, tallying a score of 1722. It marks their third straight invitational, and sixth win overall, to start the 2019-20 season. Division-II Ashland was runner-up with a score of 1169.5.
Combined with the men's score of 1125, the Gators also had the highest combined score.
Sadie Brown (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community) won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.23. Brown also finished runner-up the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.70 and sixth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.18.
Aimee Verardi (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) captured first in the 100 individual medley with a time of 1:00.89. She also finished fifth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.93 and sixth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:14.87.
Hannah Tonsmann (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge) had three top-eight finishes, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:15.36. She also placed fourth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.31 and fifth in the 1650 with a time of 18:27.53.
McClaren Rodriguez (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City) also had three top-eight finishes in freestyle events. She took fifth in the 50 with a time of 25.00, fifth in the 200 with a time of 1:58.62 and seventh in the 100 with a time of 54.53.
Savannah Plaskon (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) had runner-up finishes in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.54 and the 100 individual medley with a time of 1:04.39.
Emily Schaefer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) also had a runner-up finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:15.02 and placed third in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:50.52.
Anna Verardi (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) had three top-eight finishes, taking fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:00.38), sixth in the 200 backstroke (2:12.11) and seventh in the 100 butterfly (59.99).
Miranda Farley (Cleveland, Ohio/North Royalton) finished third in the 100 individual medley (1:05.14) and seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:23.65).
Riley Aul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) took fourth in the 100 individual medley (1:07.80) and seventh in the 400 individual medley (5:02.55).
Megan Corletti (Monroeville, Pa./Oakland Catholic) had a pair of top-eight placements in breaststroke events, taking fourth in the 200 (2:36.05) and eighth in the 100 (1:11.53).
Maddie Janvrin (Woodridge, Ill./Naperville) had two top-four finishes in the backstroke as she took third in the 200 with a time of 2:08.68 and fourth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.53.
Megan Munzek (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) finished seventh in the 100 backstroke (1:02.04) as well as the 200 backstroke (2:18.65).
Maggie Baham (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) took third in the 200 butterfly (2:15.68) and eighth in the 50 freestyle (25.80) while
Maggie Bilquin (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) had a seventh-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.48).
Ariana Clark (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) placed fifth in both the 200 backstroke (2:10.45) and the 400 individual medley (4:52.29),
Rachel Tobler (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) placed sixth in the 200 butterfly (2:17.85),
Kaitlin Franzen (Jamestown, N.Y./Frewsburg Central) finished seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:38.72) and
Jenna Halenda (Mars, Pa./Mars) took eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:18.66).
Tia Knoll (Sandusky, Ohio/Sandusky) finished eighth in the 100 freestyle (55.05) and the 200 freestyle (2:00.93).
The 200 medley relay team of

Aimee Verardi and Brown finished second with a time of 1:49.51 while the 400 yard medley relay team of Janvrin, Tonsmann,
Anna Verardi and Brown finished third with a time of 4:01.10.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Brown,

Aimee Verardi and Rodriguez finished second with a time of 1:37.76, the 400 free relay team of Farley,
Anna Verardi,
Aimee Verardi and Rodriguez finished third with a time of 3:38.51 and the 800 freestyle relay team of Farley,
Aimee Verardi, Tonsmann and Rodriguez finished second with a time 7:52.42.
The Gator divers combined to win both boards.
Chelsea Pietrzycki (Parma, Ohio/Parma) won the one-meter board with a score of 392.95 and finished third on the three-meter board with a score of 354.30.
Brionna Litwin (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) won the three-meter board with a score of 39910 and finished second on the one-meter board with a score of 387.40.
The Gators are off until Jan. 10 when they travel to Westminster for a dual.
