Isham earns Newcomer of the Year as Gators take 3rd at NCACs

CARMEL, Ind.—The Allegheny men's cross country team finished third at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships hosted in Carmel, Ind. Saturday (Nov. 2).
 
Three members of the Gator team earned All-NCAC honors, led by Owen Isham (State College, Pa./State College Area), who earned Newcomer of the Year honors.
 
DePauw won the team title with a score of 53.  Wabash narrowly finished ahead of the Gators with 85 points compared to the Gators 89.  Denison (93), Oberlin (127), Kenyon (142), Ohio Wesleyan (146) Wittenberg (186) and Wooster (234). 

Sam Henthorn of Wabash won the individual title with a time of 25:42.7.
 
Owen Isham (State College, Pa./State College Area) led the way for the Gators, earning NCAC Newcomer of the Year accolades as he was the top freshman in the field.  Isham traversed the course in 26:13.1, averaging a pace of 3:16.6 per kilometer, placing sixth. The finish also earned him All-NCAC First-Team honors.  It was the highest finish for a Gator freshman since Logan Steiner finished third overall in 2012.
 
Tim Weighart (Brookline, Mass./Brookline) was on the heels of Isham, also earning All-NCAC First-Team honors as he finished seventh with a time of 26:16.5.  He had an average kilometer pace of 3:17.1.
 
Logan Meyer (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon) was the third Gator to earn All-NCAC honors, taking a spot on the Second-Team.  He finished in ninth with a time of 26:21.5, a pace of 3:17.7 per kilometer.
 
Mac Polny (Robinson, Pa./Montour) was the number four runner for the Gators.  He finished 36th with a time of 27:39.7, pacing 3:27.5 a kilometer.
 
Adam Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) rounded out the top-five runners for the Gators, as he was just behind Polny in 37th with a time o 27:40.9, a pace of 3:27.6 a kilometer. 
 
Luke Kellett (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) finished 41st with a time of 27:47.0 while Kevin Long (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) took 42nd with a time of 27:50.6 for the Gators six and seven runners.
 
The Gators are back in action Friday (Nov. 8) when they travel to compete in the Grove City Twilight 5k.
